I just wanted to say thanks for the Yanagisawa which arrived safely on Friday. Having spent the weekend playing it, I am delighted - it is a beautiful instrument. The tone is lovely and the sound and intonation are so consistent across the whole range of the sax. I did like my Yamaha, but this is so easy to play it's a whole different ball game!
Thanks also for the reeds you included - I've always played Ricos and never tried Vandorens before. I didn't get on with the Java (although it might just be that particular one), but I liked the ZZ so much I am going to get some more.

Yes, thanks the playing is going well (at least I think it is – not sure about my wife) frustrating at times but rewarding. I had no musical experience whatsoever so it’s all knew. I got ABRSM grade 1 a few months ago. At 64 I was just a bit older than the other candidates! Without your scheme I would not have taken the plunge and bought a decent instrument so either wouldn’t have done it at all or would have ended up with a dodgy used one and given up.
I’m very happy with this sax and can’t really see a time when it would hold me back! What’s more likely is that I’ll want a tenor but that would be in addition to the alto.

I hope you remember me. I came to see you on 23 January this year with my partner and bought a black and gold Alphasax from you. I also bought a Saxholder harness from you which I really like.
I just wanted to say a big thank you for all your help and enthusiasm on that day and let you know that I absolutely love the Alphasax and am really enjoying learning how to play it. I have a lesson each week from a really good teacher and am getting there slowly but surely.
It has given me a new interest and has even encouraged Dennis (who you also met on that day) to pick up his guitar again after many years. We even play some duets, although we wouldn't make much money busking!

Thankyou so much for the receipt and the excellent service I've had along the way. It's been so easy to deal with you and your team. I think it's a great way to buy - spreads the cost, and gives you time to decide whether you like the instrument. I liked the fact that I could hire 2 simultaneously for a period of time as the comparison over a period of time, as opposed to half a day in a music shop was much more useful. It was great that you were able to take in my vintage sax and old B12 too in part exchange - less risky than going to e-Bay route.
I'll certainly be back if I decide to try another instrument in the future, and will continue to recommend you to my musical friends.

Hello Ralf, thank you for confirming safe receipt and I'm so pleased that you like the Yamaha.
You can leave the sax assembled during the day but at the end of the day I recommend removing the reed and storing it in the plastic case to keep it flat and also removing the mouthpiece from the neck cork to allow it to breath (or it will compact the cork). You can keep the rest of the sax on the stand to dry fully.
It would be great if you can come for the free one hour lesson next year too.

Hi Richard
The horn arrived safely yesterday - thanks a million for the quick despatch. The YAS-280 is absolutely fantastic and, even to my inexperienced ears, it plays and sounds far superior than the Antigua I used to have. I was struggling yesterday with high notes after not playing for over 2 months. It's already back to my normal self today, though! 😊
Just a quick question for you. When I leave the sax on the stand, can I leave the reed on or is it better to dismantle the mouthpiece?

Every year at the end of March, we go for a few day short break. I believe you are based in a very nice area, so we might be exploring this part of the UK next year. The Yani 911 really is a beautiful instrument and after a very pleasant weekend with it I am in no doubt that I should purchase outright straightaway. Please will you calculate how much this will be?
The conductor of the orchestra in Inverness is very pleased with the idea of having a soprano, and has suggested that I could dep for the oboe - I can easily manage the necessary transposition using Finale Notepad, a lot easier than trying to transpose at sight.
And Richard ~ the time you spent sorting out the subtle differences between the Soprano and my Alto was invaluable. Thank you very much indeed.
